From a tender age, I have always had a desire to help people in need. At first, my interests were to reach out to others in international countries. However, having spent almost a decade away from home, I came to the realisation that there were already countless efforts in action. This realisation coupled with multiple bouts of home sickness allowed me to consider what initiatives I could implement in order to assist young people in need within my OWN country, the beautiful British Virgin Islands.
My focus is on young people as, still being a youth myself, I believe I can relate to their issues and although not a professional, I can help to create a link connecting young people with inspirational leaders and other motivatonal role models within our community. Hence, the BVI's Youth U-Turn Project was birthed.
The process from drafting together a set of ideas on paper to their actual implementation was long, and definitely easier in writing than in practice. However, I subscribe to the theory that 'where there is a will, there is a way'. In fact, all things are possible with God's help.
I take this opportunity to say Special Thank You to:
- God whom allowed me to go through very tough situations but never putting more on me than I could bear as He promised. Many times I did not understand why but now it is crystal clear to see what God was preparing me for;
- My friends and family whom supported me along the way and were always willing to give honest and constructive feedback;
- Jougo and the HomeGrown Studios Team. Without Jougo's encouragement, I may not have built up enough courage in my own material, to start the 'Keep Moving' CD project, which is now on its way to being a success with your support. Brent was very instrumental in bringing my music ideas to life;
- Hon. Myron Walwyn and the Ministry of Education. Without Hon. Walwyn's belief in the project, including the financial assistance from the Ministry, the U'-Turn Project simply would not be.
Thank you to all my readers...please look out for more blogs. Together, we can 'Support Our Youths to make a U-Turn for the Better!'.
